Why you should be interviewing outside of the box
If you were an animal, what would you be, and why? Sounds like a fairly easy question, but would you ask it in an interview? Here’s our top three reasons why we think you should.
1. It gives you the chance to see how your candidate will react under pressure. Will they get flustered or will they deliver a calm and confident answer?
2. It also gives you a chance to see their personality. If you’re looking for a young vibrant candidate to fit your office culture, signs of the candidate smiling, laughing or even asking the question back to you shows that they’ve taken the question in good spirit and they would be a good fit for your team. Essentially there’s no right or wrong answer, so long as their reasoning matches up to what you’re looking for.
3. Most candidates will choose an animal that symbolises their character so if you need someone in a fast paced role and they answer ‘a sloth,’ this might be your cue to dig a little deeper as to why they chose that.
